At Outside Media & Knowledge, we are excited to begin work on a new project that aligns with our mission to foster inclusion and opportunity. PROMOTE is a collaborative effort to address the barriers faced by highly skilled migrant women, including displaced Ukrainians, and to support their integration into the European labour market.
Why PROMOTE Is Needed
Many highly educated and experienced women who have migrated to Europe face significant challenges in finding meaningful employment. Skills mismatches, a lack of professional networks, and other hurdles prevent them from contributing fully to the workforce.
PROMOTE aims to change this by equipping educators and employers with the tools to better understand these challenges and to provide targeted support. Over the next two years, the project will train 50 VET educators and help more than 75 migrant women take meaningful steps towards achieving their career aspirations.

Our Plans in Action
PROMOTE will focus on practical steps to support career development in partner regions across Sweden, Ireland, Spain, Germany, and Poland:
- Identifying Skills Gaps: Mapping the unique barriers faced by migrant women in each region and understanding employer needs.
- Tailored Training Programmes: Developing CVET initiatives to help migrant women align their skills with labour market demands.
- Mentorship and Work-Based Learning: Partnering with employers to create mentorship opportunities and real-world job placements.
- Supporting Employers: Highlighting the value migrant women bring to the workforce and helping businesses access this underutilised talent pool.
- Tracking Progress: Evaluating the success of each activity and ensuring the project makes a lasting impact.
The Difference PROMOTE Will Make
This project isn’t just about addressing skills gaps—it’s about creating real opportunities. For migrant women, PROMOTE will provide the tools they need to rebuild their careers and regain confidence. For employers, it opens the door to skilled professionals who are ready to contribute.
At a time when 80% of employers report difficulty finding the talent they need, PROMOTE provides a concrete solution. By 2026, we hope to see more inclusive workplaces, stronger communities, and progress towards gender equality across Europe.
Looking Ahead
We’re proud to be part of a team working to make these changes possible. PROMOTE represents a shared effort to address real challenges and make a tangible impact. In the coming months, we’ll share updates on our activities, the progress of the women we’re working with, and the lessons we’re learning along the way.
